This past weekend, 18 Lucky Dog volunteers visited our rescue partners in Puerto Rico as part of our 4th annual visit (our first after Hurricane Maria). On our first day, we visited PR Animals' Pet Village where our volunteers helped clean, walk and feed dogs and cats. Lucky Dog also announced our ongoing sponsorship of 5 kennels.
On the morning of the second day, Lucky Dog met with inidividual rescuers from across the island -- spending time with close to twenty dogs looking for loving homes.
The team then visited Save a Gato, a cat sanctuary and TNR program in old San Juan.
En route to our next stop, our Lucky Dog team found 4 puppies and an adult female dog under a car. The adult was suffering from various illnesses, and, once all 4 were collected, we rushed them to a vet. We look forward to their arrival in DC in the coming months.
We wrapped up our trip with a ride along on a multi-stop dog and cat feeding route.
We had an truly amazing time learning about and supporting the work of our amazing Puerto Rican partners!
Thank you for supporting Lucky Dog, for being a part of our Hurricane Maria relief efforts (we saved 167 dogs and cats from Puerto Rico in 2017) and for making it possible for us to save future Lucky Dogs and Cats!
